McMillan Cemetery- Now Erin Pioneer Cemetery
Lot 18, Concession IX, Erin Township,Wellington County
This
cemetery stands on a height of land on the west side of County Road #23, overlooking the Town of Erin to the south. The land
was originally owned by Donald McMillan, who donated it for a cemetery. Previously there had been a school there until other
schools were built in the area and it was discontinued in 1837.
The cemetery gradually fell into
disrepair and several efforts were made to restore it. Extensive repairs were made in 1941, 1959 and 1963. It is now, very
well maintained by a group of interested volunteers.
MEMORIAL PLAQUE

Cemetery after the family who donated the land, it was in use from 1834 to 1935.

Cemetery Board with the assistance of the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Recreation.
